Answer question 1. 3

How to deal with criticism?

If you are criticised, not you, but the one who is criticising you is the active one at that time.

If you are criticised, this criticism is coming from someone else's set of circumstances, feelings, conditioning, fears etc.

This is important to be conscious about. This critic may be activated by something you did, but also the way in which this critic re-acts depends totally on the critic her or himself.

Important in learning to handle criticism, is to recognise::

a. the part of the criticism which has to do with the (frustrations of the) critic her/himself, and

b. the other part you could take on board and learn from.

When someone is suddenly very angry with you, this angry person is disturbed, weak and not able to handle a situation well; try to accept that another person can be weak.

Most of the time the main part of criticism is the critic’s own problem; you should not take this personally, and can leave this with the critic.

After having done so, it would be wise, of course, to look at the possibility that there is something in your life you could improve.
