This is different from suicide. Suicide mostly takes place when there is no direct (physical) reason to end life; mostly because for psychological reasons. Euthanasia is considered when the body and / or mind threaten to fail one totally and nothing can prevent that. We think the person who considers euthanasia must be free to decide about it her/himself. Others should support this person in finding the right answers to the questions raised. We like to mention here two important aspects: - The right we have, not only to life, but also to pass away. The surviving relatives should give more attention to the person in this painful position than to their own difficulties with handling a possible passing away of their friend. This may help them too. - The possible positive use/function of our last days (not coming always with suffering only but also with joyful moments) for our spiritual development, and preparation on the afterlife. This difficult time can lead all involved to better understanding and spiritual wisdom for future life, here and in other worlds. (See text of Hazrat Inayat Khan). | ||
