A letter to interfaith friends

Trying to explain why we

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . We left because of our own personal development; like every being moves from stage to stage, from one station travelling to the next station, and so on.

We can mention some things which motivated us to think increasingly about the value of interfaith for us, as our requirement to ourselves is to try to serve at the most fundamental level.

One reason for being attracted to interfaith had to do with the fact that religions play a role in most conflicts, so we thought that interfaith might be the solution to solving conflicts. Our experiences however show that within interfaith activities the religions continue to require attention for themselves; the competition goes on, which creates a limit to its potential.

Along with this, compared with 30 years ago, interfaith activities have become more common, are taken on by many more non-interfaith organisations, so the specific interfaith organisations will have increasing difficulty to find something useful to do, at least we personally found it difficult.

Another aspect is that in the spiritual / creative world (after and in-between life), religions don’t play any role. So we should be careful giving all this attention to religions. Focusing on individual spiritual development seems much more effective.

Despite the previous points, we are positive about interfaith; involvement in interfaith, or religions, or schools or the UN, or Amnesty and the Euro, family life, and all the rest are very important for the development of humans at various kind of levels.

We moved away from interfaith; where are we now?

Since long we have the calling, like you, to help diminish suffering on this planet in a most fundamental way. At a certain moment in our lives we came across interfaith as a way we thought to be the best way for us as long we did not know a better way.

After years of interfaith we got the strong feeling that we have to move on to a more fundamental level of which we can’t yet tell what it might hold in practical terms.

It has to do with joining the Great God Beyond or Source; understood as separate from God the Creator. We think that God the Creator is a division/split off -more or less- from the Source, and that we are actively participating in creation from the beginning, here and in the in-between-life-situations and previous lives. We also think that the creation basically is our mistake. Before creation started, a minor part of The Source had its dreams and we wanted to realize this, as we did.The result is not to be proud of; for example here on this planet all species are dependent on eating other species for their survival, and we are unable to organise ourselves in a peaceful and just way because of all kind of weaknesses. Most souls are in denial of this and try to focus on the beautiful side of creation, but still have lost the sense of and contact with the Source.

At this moment in our development we think that the best way to help the world out of misery is to join the Source, in other words Self Realization. Since our departure from the interfaith station we try to detach, avoid distractions, do no-thing and be quiet with all senses on alert. We don’t think we are very good in all this, but do think it’s worthwhile to continue trying as long as it takes, while remaining open to all possibilities. We hope this explains more or less where we are at this moment. If it’s not crystal clear to you where we are going, then this is good, because it’s not crystal clear to us either!

We value the commitment you make to others. May your seva touch many lives.
